I've taken the decision to move my website host to Square Space, my old host Format.com has been great for what I have needed it for but is still tentatively taking steps in the direction I want to be heading in, so the slightly more established Square Space seems right for me!
The blogging aspect to Square Space has better social media interaction as well as other widgets and linking capabilities. I want to try and update this blog more than I have but like anything it's getting it started that is the hard bit, once it's habitual then I'm sure I'll be rambling on about everything and anything...and now potentially with you too!
One of the cool additions Square Space adds is a logo. A simple icon that can be associated with your "brand". The website provides a library of professionally designed logos and the platform to combine this with your chosen font and arrangement. I'm pretty happy with my new logo, as it associates with Scotland and a lot of the projects that have led to where I am just now were from up North. Let me know what you think of it if you can and we can get discussing....more on that now...
Square Space has comment functionality which will hopefully ultimately lead to conversations with the people that are looking at my work; be it my Facebook friends who get bombarded with my links and images, or with the casual internet viewer then there should be something interesting to be heard/said.
The site also has e-commerce capabilities so I'm hoping to set up some kind of print shop where I can shoot to sell as well as make some of my archive available for purchase. This is something I've wanted to do for quite a while now, but just not been able to with my previous set up. It also means that I can shoot a variety of different subject matter and possibly get creative in order to make prints that people would want to hang in their homes.
I'll keep you all updated regarding my progress and hopefully have some interesting images to show you soon, several projects in the pipeline!
For continuity I've moved all of my old RCP Blog posts over to here and dated them so the content is still here.
